IOSH Working Safely
Who Should Attend
The IOSH Working Safely course is designed for all employees and staff working within any organisation who need a basic knowledge in the significance of health and safety.
Course Duration: 1 day
Method of Delivery:
A PowerPoint presentation designed as an introduction to health and safety awareness, incorporating inactive techniques and case studies to encourage delegate participation.
Delegates are evaluated using a multi-format written assessment and a practical hazard spotting exercise.
Course Content:
Module 1: Introducing working safely. The process, purpose, and importance of preventing, reporting and investigating accidents, incidents and cases of work related ill health, or other dangerous occurrences, with an emphasis on the importance of personal responsibility in the prevention of accidents.
Module 2: Defining hazard and risk.
Module 3: Identifying common hazards e.g. slips, trips and falls, overloaded sockets, manual handling, with an emphasis on hazards and risks associated with the use of equipment, work location and activities.
Module 4: Improving safety performance in a safe manner, including risk assessments, inspections, safe systems of work, protective equipment, signage, emergency procedures and general safety awareness.
Module 5: Protecting our environment; an introduction to environmental issues, waste and pollution control.
Objective:
By attending this course delegates will better understand:
- How to identify common hazards and improve safety performance in a working environment, with emphasis on hazards and risk associated with the use of equipment, work location and activities.
- The process, purpose and importance of preventing, reporting and investigating accidents, incidents and cases of work related ill health, or other dangerous occurrences, with an emphasis on the importance of personal responsibility in the prevention of accidents.
- The rational and process for undertaking work procedures in a safe manner including risk assessments, inspections safe system of work, protective equipment, signage, emergency procedures and general safety awareness.
Upon completion of the written and practical assessments successful delegates will receive an IOSH accredited certificate.

There is an additional charge, per delegate, of £5.00 plus VAT for the IOSH passport card.
